The Department of Science and Technology Studies at UCL is looking to appoint a 0.5FTE Research and Impact Assistant as part of the ESRC-funded ‘Driverless Futures?’ research project.
The postholder will assist in research, impact and public engagement work across all the strands of the project. Working with the project team, the research and impact assistant will be responsible for coordinating research and policy engagement work, working with the project principal investigator and senior research associate. This will involve a high degree of autonomous work, with the potential to help shape the project in creative and innovative ways. The research and impact assistant will have the potential to make a mark on an important and timely area of innovation and policy.
As research and impact assistant you will:
•Coordinate impact and public engagement activities of the EEiM project (see project description)
Negotiate with and influence key academic staff on the project and beyond to ensure a consistent, comprehensive and cohesive approach to communications and events is understood, adopted and implemented.
•Plan and organise public events and project meetings.
•Develop the project’s online and social media profile through the project web site and, in particular, Twitter.
•Manage and create project content for the web and social media.
•Develop and maintain relationships with academics and stakeholders outside the project team.
•Contribute to the writing of applications for further funding as required.
This post is 0.5FTE (2.5 days per week) and is grant funded until 31/12/2021 in the first instance.
The successful applicant with be educated to first degree level, or with equivalent experience in a relevant area. They will have experience of project management and social research, with event organisation, and working with social media and web content. They will also have experience in giving presentations to a variety of academic and non-academic audiences.
